The Yellowknife Throat Singers

Throat singing duo Kayley Inuksuk Mackay and Hovak Johnston hail from different ends of the arctic, but have forged a strong connection singing  ancient songs together that bridges the gap between east and west, past and present.  Celebrating culture through music has been a wonderful way for them to collaborate with other throat singers and they are always excited to share and learn from one another.  They have performed at several events in the Yellowknife area, including Folk on the Rocks, and were honoured to be a part of the CBC New Year's Eve Countdown to 2017. They have also been featured on CBC Arts as well as on the television show, Exhibitionists.  Hovak and Kayley are looking forward to continuing to share their talent across Canada and beyond.
