Christians are the Prince George, BC-based free improvising metallic noise duo of Jeremy Stewart on electric guitar and Justin Arding on drums, supplemented when possible by Stanley Jason Zappa on electric bass. They’ve played with bands like Oxbow and Lightning Bolt. Their music is inspired by fear and trembling.
Guitarist Jeremy Stewart and percussionist Justin Arding believe that improvisation is the future of heavy metal. Although the two began improvising as Christians in Jeremy’s basement in spring 2012 in Prince George, British Columbia, they have played in bands together since 2004.
Jeremy started playing guitar in local punk and metal bands in 1994 at the age of 12. He has toured Canada with his own band, Jeremy Stewart and the Rest, as well as performing with such artists as Juno nominee Marcel Gagnon and free improviser Harold Klunder. Jeremy’s music is featured in several films, including Stephen St. Laurent’s short Sky Canoe.
Justin played in his high school jazz band, but his first live shows were with Vancouver grindcore noisesters The Fanfare. Justin has since toured Canada drumming with bands like The Arbitrarys and Cera.
